MISSION STATEMENT

The primary purpose of the Echols County Sheriff’s Office is to maintain social order within prescribed ethical and constitutional limits, while providing professional and courteous law enforcement services. Our fundamental duties are to serve humanity; to safeguard the lives and properties of our citizens; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation and the peaceful against violence; and to respect the constitutional right of all persons to liberty, equality, and justice. To attain this, the Echols County Sheriff’s Office enforces the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limits of our authority and the constitutional rights of all persons.

The Echols County Sheriff’s Office recognizes that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without the support of the citizens that we serve. The Echols County Sheriff’s Office actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to use the resources available to accomplish this goal.

🚨 HOME INVASION & ARMED ROBBERY – PUBLIC ASSISTANCE NEEDED 🚨

The Echols County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred early this morning in the 1700 block of Highway 129 South, at a migrant work camp.

The incident involved four masked, Black males, armed with a rifle and several pistols, and wearing body armor. After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene and possibly crossed into Florida. The nine alleged victims were then able to contact 911 for help.

We are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has any information to please contact Investigator Lt. K. Lewis at 229-559-5603. Your tip—no matter how small—could be critical in solving this case.

The Echols County Sheriff’s Office is receiving an increased number of reports involving juveniles operating ATVs and UTVs on county roads and highways, often in a reckless manner and causing damage to public roadways.
• This will not be tolerated.
• Citations will be issued, and vehicles may be impounded.
• Parents or guardians will be held responsible for the actions of minors under their care.

These actions are not only illegal—they are dangerous. We are committed to protecting our community and maintaining the safety of our roads. If you see this type of activity, we encourage you to report it immediately.
