WANTED FUGITIVE LOCATED AND ARRESTED

Sheriff Courson states that on June 22, 2026, deputies with the Echols County Sheriff’s Office acted on information received from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation regarding the whereabouts of a wanted fugitive.

Deputies responded to a residence on Charles Circle, where Christi Lynn Williams was located and taken into custody without incident. Williams was wanted by Colquitt County authorities for a Probation Violation on an original charge of Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree.

During the investigation, suspected methamphetamine was located inside the residence. The substance has been submitted to the crime laboratory for testing, and additional charges may be pending based on the results of that analysis.

Williams was transported to the Lowndes County Jail and is being held on the outstanding warrant.

Sheriff Randy Courson would like to thank the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for providing the information that led to the successful location and arrest of this wanted individual.

WANTED FUGITIVE LOCA

The Echols County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce that we have been awarded $4,606.83 through the U.S. Department of Justice's Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Program.
This funding will help offset the cost of replacing expired ballistic vests worn by our deputies. Body armor is one of the most important pieces of safety equipment an officer wears, and ensuring our deputies have properly maintained and up to date protection remains a top priority.
The grant application was submitted by Lieutenant Kathryn Lewis on behalf of the Sheriff's Office and will provide valuable assistance to our agency while reducing costs to local taxpayers.
Sheriff Randy Courson stated, "The safety of our deputies is paramount. This grant helps us continue providing the equipment necessary to protect those who serve our community every day. We appreciate the Department of Justice's continued support of law enforcement agencies through programs like the Bulletproof Vest Partnership."
The Echols County Sheriff's Office remains committed to seeking funding opportunities that enhance officer safety and strengthen our ability to serve the citizens of Echols County.

The Echols County Sh

Sometimes the right people cross paths at just the right time.

Late last week, this sweet girl was involved in a vehicle accident on the interstate in Jasper, Florida and went missing. For more than five days, her mama searched and hoped for her safe return.

After somehow traveling all the way into Echols County, she made her way to a local home here in our county even though her mama lives more than four hours away.

This morning, Sheriff Courson sent a photo to his deputies asking if anyone had reported her missing locally. At the time, the answer was no, but less than 30 minutes later, a missing dog post from Jasper popped up on Facebook. It was her.

With the help of Sheriff Courson, our deputies, and caring community members, this determined girl was safely reunited with her mama today.

We’re thankful for a happy ending and amazed at how far she traveled to make it home. ❤️🐾
